Description:

Residents who have not done so already should get vaccinated against both H1N1 and seasonal flu.  The influenza virus is unpredictable and ensuring everyone is vaccinated will lessen the likelihood of a third wave.

The Franklin County Public Health Department has administered over 5,000 H1N1 vaccinations since October 27, 2009.  We have also administerd over 1,500 seasonal flu vaccinations so far this season.  Providers needing vaccine for their patient population should contact us for availability; alternatively they can order their own H1N1 vaccine through the system set up through NY State and the CDC.

Please see below under "Documents" for frequently asked questions and "Links" for additional information related to Seasonal and H1N1 Influenza.

The Franklin County Public Health Department houses various community health and clinical care service programs that serve the residents of Franklin County.  Clinical programs include a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) and a Long-Term Home Health Care Program (LTHHCP). The CHHA and the LTHHCP provide skilled nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Social Work Counseling in clients' homes. The Early Intervention program provides speech therapy, physical therapy, and other specialized services for children younger than 3 years old. Our Community Health program provides communicable disease investigations, immunization clinics (influenza, pneumoccocal, tDAP, shingles, TB testing and treatment, etc., please refer to schedule), lead awareness and poisoning prevention, and emergency preparedness and response.  The Cancer Services Program is a state-funded initative to provide early diagnosis and treatment of breast, cervical and colon cancer. Maternal and child health nurses offer home visits at no cost to new parents and their infants, and offer follow-up for infants and toddlers at risk for developmental delays and arrange for services as needed.
